After the glacial collapse that devastated the border with Tibet, a debris basin has begun to overflow. Rescue efforts have been suspended, roads have been destroyed, and more than 1,500 people are missing: now the danger comes from the water that has accumulated upstream.
A glacier collapse triggered a debris flow along the border with Tibet. At least 165 people have died. This disaster, for the umpteenth time, brings the climate crisis and the increasingly evident fragility of high-altitude glacial environments back into the spotlight.
