At the Jova Summer Party, scheduled for September 12 and 13 at the Circo Massimo, the dogs and cats housed at the municipal shelters in Muratella, Ponte Marconi, and the Porta Portese Cat Sanctuary will take center stage in a public awareness campaign focused on responsible adoption, the protection of pets, and combating the problem of abandonment.
The Department of Agriculture, Environment, and Waste Management of Roma Capitale, led by Sabrina Alfonsi, has launched a partnership with Empethy—the Italian digital platform that created a virtual dog shelter—and with the Poldo Rescue Foundation, a social welfare organization founded to protect and help abandoned dogs. Thanks to this agreement, a video campaign featuring dogs and cats from municipal dog and cat shelters available for adoption will be screened as part of the events leading up to Jovanotti’s two concerts.
Posters and QR codes around town
As part of the campaign, LED screens will be used the day before the concerts at Ostiense Station, in the Termini Station area, in Piazza San Giovanni, and on Viale Aventino. These screens will display posters featuring the slogan “Adopt me. Do it for yourself,” along with a QR code that allows users to visit the virtual shelter, where they can view photos of about 100 dogs and cats ready to be adopted.
There are still too many cases of abandonment

Although recent data reassures us that adoption requests are on the rise, the number of abandoned animals remains alarmingly high, which is why we remain committed to raising awareness among an ever-wider audience about this uncivilized and cruel phenomenon. I want to thank Poldo Rescue, Empethy, and Jovanotti’s staff for this extraordinary opportunity and for their collaboration with the City of Rome administration in protecting the well-being of our four-legged friends,” said Councilwoman Sabrina Alfonsi.
